This note is to let you know that my latest feature 'Alison,' which is sort of a chick-flick for lovers of adventurous cinema, is available for purchase or rental at iTunes.
You can find it here:

Additionally, it can be found locally at Orbit DVD, in West Asheville.
'Alison,' which the MAP generously helped with some finishing funds, won Best Director, Best Actor, Best Screenplay and 2nd Best Feature overall at the Los Angeles International Film Festival.

On Friday, Nov. 13, my latest feature "Alison" will show in Asheville, as part of the Asheville Film Festival's 'Local Showcase.' So it's a good time to consider Asheville's indie media scene, and how our little movie got to where it is today.
First, we were lucky enough to receive a MAP grant, a small portion of the Daniel Delavergne Media Arts Advantage Fund Award, besting several very deserving projects. Some of the folks we outlasted, I'm proud to say, were among Asheville's highest profile projects.
David McConville had evidently submitted one of his dome experiments for funding, but was turned down ("Yesterday's technology ... today," I heard one MAP staffer sigh). ("And tomorrow ... and the next day ... and the next ... " another staffer chimed in.)
Paul Bonesteel of Bonesteel Films had submitted one of his no-budget Biltmore House marketing pieces and was also denied, though he (somewhat cynically) got his personal shill Pete Seeger to come down and croak out "This House is Your House," in the MAP offices. Pete, I'm happy to say, was quickly shown the door.
American Green's Kurt Mann and his "Progress Energy: A Love Story" doc was evidently considered, but was ultimately rejected. As were Michelle Moog-Koussa's "Moog: It's Pronounced MOE-G, Dammit!" and David Kabler's first feature about the world of corporate tie-ins, "Wanderlost."
All in all, "Alison" was chosen -- along with, alright, several other slightly deserving projects -- and we were able to take that money to Harrah's out in Cherokee ... where we promptly lost it all. But hey -- if we had won, our movie wouldn't have been a micro-budget movie, now would it?
So, here's a shout-out to the MAP and everybody who tried to wrestle money from our hands: We won! Ha ha! In your face!
