Oil and Water Project Documentary
posted: October 31, 2007
Asheville Community Theatre on Saturday, November 10th at 10:30 PM
Seth Warren, the filmmaker, will be there for a discussion about sustainable lifestyles

Two kayakers, Seth Warren and Tyler Bradt, set out to complete the Oil and Water Project by driving a Japanese fire truck 34,000 kilometers from Alaska to Argentina without a single drop of petroleum. Instead, they used waste grease from fast-food restaurants, along with pig, fish, canola, soy and palm oils. On their way from river to beach to mountains, they visited schools, conducted demonstrations and collaborated with local governments to raise awareness for alternative energy. And they chased summer the whole way, surfing and kayaking in some of the best spots in the Americas.

Screening on Halloween: Disappearances
posted: October 30, 2007
In Disappearances, Craven brings a number of these characters to life on the silver screen: Kris Kristofferson as Quebec Bill Bonhomme, a wild irrepressible feral patriarch with a history as both a smuggler and abuser of alcohol; Charlie McDermott as Wild Bill Bonhomme, his young son eager to take up the same path as his father; and Genevieve Bujold as Cordelia, Wild Bill’s enigmatic and prophetic aunt who seeks to save her grandson from the terrible fate she sees for him. These characters and others dance through gripping tale of high stakes whiskey smuggling along the Vermont Canadian border, involving mysterious French backers, dangerous bandits, and the Bonhomme family's mysterious history.
