posted: November 12, 2008
Join us for an innovative
residency and performance with media artist/dancer/choreographer
Jonah Bokaer
as this NC native and acclaimed dancer stages his
evening-long work,
"Three Cases of Amnesia"
Sat,
Nov. 15
8pm,
Lipinsky Auditorium, UNC Asheville
General admission $20
Student admission $6
The performance features Bokaer's
ground-breaking combination of multimedia and solo original modern dance.
Bokaer graduated from the NC School of the Arts
in Media Arts and Dance and was immediately recruited by the prestigious Merce
Cunningham Dance Company in NYC at age 18 - the youngest dancer ever
hired in the company's 55-year history. Continuing in his mentor Cunningham's
footsteps, Bokaer creates technically complex modern dance works that address
the human body's relation to 21st-c. digital technologies, such as motion
capture and 3-D animation. Named one of Dance Magazine's "25 to
Watch" in 2006, he has performed throughout the US,
Europe, Australia and Japan.
