OFF THE MAP: FRIDAY JUNE 29 Featuring Heather Lewis
Artist Heather Lewis will be sharing imagery and discussing the concepts behind her “deskilled” drawings, and light/shadow installations. Says Lewis: “Looking at painting and drawing as expanded concepts, and interchangeable with installation, I use non-commercial rationales to direct simple arrangements of existing technology, products and situations. This lets me explore the role of mechanical process within creative practice, and engage aspects of the ordinary world within a fine art environment.”
Heather Lewis’ work has been shown in solo and group shows in galleries in the United States and abroad including the Hunter College/Times Square Gallery, New York ; The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, Summit, New Jersey; The Ewing Gallery at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; The Affordable Art Fair, London; and The Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh, Scotland.
WHEN: Friday June 29th, doors open at 8:00pm, talk begins at 8:30pm WHERE: Bobo Gallery and Wine Bar, 22 North Lexington COST: Free admission MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST: www.heatherlewis.net
