MAP Artist Grant Funding Is Back!
posted: June 30, 2011
We are THRILLED to announce that we'll be awarding two grants of up to $1500 each to Western North Carolina media artists this year. Supported by funds we raised at the 2010 and 2011 {Re}HAPPENING events, the grants will go directly to the artists to fund new or current projects which will then be showcased at next year’s {Re}HAPPENING. Applications open July 15, 2011, and are due August 15, 2011. Click here for detailed info: www.themap.org/grants
“The grant is an opportunity for the MAP to get cash into the hands of artists and help projects materialize that will contribute to innovation and culture in Western North Carolina,” says Gene Felice, a member of the MAP Board of Directors and the {Re}HAPPENING’s artistic director. “We are thrilled to offer the artistic community some concrete support, after the outpouring of creativity that made the {Re}HAPPENING events so unique.”
Artists who apply will be asked to join the MAP’s member community by building profiles on the site. These member profiles will serve as the mechanism for submitting work for review.
The grant continues the work of the Media Arts Advantage Fund, a joint project between the Media Arts Project and AdvantageWest. Over three grant cycles beginning in 2006, the MAAF offered financial support to artists and entrepreneurs whose projects helped to grow the region’s digital arts and culture.
