Our Mission

The Media Arts Project cultivates innovative arts & technology in western North Carolina. The MAP provides exhibition programming, professional development, outreach, and education. We are driven by the belief that the media arts are integral to the vibrant cultural and economic life of the region.

Short Term: Hosting and Promoting Events

Short term goals for The Media Arts Project will be to host and promote public events that encourage dialog and foster community. MAP events will act as a showcase and point of contact for media artists and increase public appreciation of media arts.

Mid Term: Exhibition, Education & Training

The mid-range goals of The MAP are twofold: 1) develop an environment to create and exhibit works of artistic and technological merit and 2) to operate an educational resource center for providing access to training in the tools of communication.

Long Term: Ongoing Exchange, Collaboration & Research

Long term goals of The MAP will be to support the development of a Media Arts Center, providing a state of the art facility for exchange between disciplines and working towards sending media arts and technologies from the southeastern United States onto the international stage.
