2011 MEDIA ARTS PROJECT (MAP) COMMUNITY GRANT
As a way to give back to our community in response to the incredible creativity and support that we received during the last two {Re}HAPPENING events, The Media Arts Project is using its proceeds from the 2010 & 2011 events to re-instate the Media Arts Project community grant series. This grant continues the work of the Media Arts Advantage Fund(2006-2008), a joint project between the Media Arts Project and Advantage West.

We are asking Western North Carolina* based artists that work in the realms of Performance, Multimedia, Sculpture, Installation, New Media, Interaction, Sound, Photo / Video, Film & Web Art, to apply for funding to support a new or current project. For groups who wish to apply, each member must fill out his or her own application and indicate that it is part of a collaborative application. Please submit a detailed project proposal including a budget (utilizing included budget sheet), timeline and a description of what is proposed. Imagery, visualizations, 3D-models & sketches are also encouraged.

Artists who apply will be asked to join the MAP's member community by building a free profile at www.themap.org. These member profiles will serve as the mechanism for submitting work for review. The grant amount will vary according to the proposed project but requests should not exceed $1500. We will be giving out grants to two Western North Carolina* based artists for the 2011 grant cycle. All Applicants must be 21 years of age or older. The deadline for proposals is August 15, 2011. Awarded applicants will be chosen by a jury of local artists, technologists and MAP community members and will be notified by October 1, 2011. All proposed projects should be realized by March 1st 2012, so that they can be shown as part of the {Re}HAPPENING 2012. In preparation for exhibiting, documentation of your progress should be submitted to the MAP grant committee by February.1st, 2012
