Bio for Christopher Perryman
Chris Perryman is a custom woodworker, conceptual maker, and owner of the Domus Aurea Woodworking Studio. After earning a BFA in visual art from UNC-Asheville in 2000, he lived and worked in Italy, the Virgin Islands, and New Orleans, LA. His early work was focused on conceptual multi-media installations involving sculpture, sound, and video, Later, he began to concentrate on honing his skills as a technician in wood through architectural work and custom furniture. He returned to Asheville in 2007 to embark on a new era of exploration in ideas, material, and collaboration. Chris is interested in infusing daily objects with concept. He now concentrates on expressing ideas and new perspectives in the ancient medium of wood, often in combination with other artists and new media. He is available to take commissions for furniture and other custom, creative woodwork and regularly participates in exhibitions throughout the region and beyond.
