Second Skin examines people whose lives have been transformed by virtual worlds in online games such as World of Warcraft, Everquest, Everquest II and Second Life.<br />
The documentary follows a group of online gamers whose lives are<br />
intensely woven together inside and outside the virtual worlds, a<br />
couple whose lives have changed since meeting online, and an avid<br />
player whose life spins out of control due to his addiction to playing<br />
MMOs. It also presents disabled players who have been given voice and<br />
mobility in the virtual world and explores the controversial world of<br />
Chinese gold farming and presents astonishing facts about online gaming.<br />

            <title>Asheville Fringe Arts Festival - Fringe Audio </title>

            <description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.themap.org/_blog_images/thumb_6231756958.jpg" style="padding-right: 10px; padding-bottom: 10px;" align="left" />The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival takes place January 21-24, 2010. This is the annual multi-day and multiple venue performance extravaganza that asks artists<br />
working in all types of genres and media (theatre, movement, music, spoken word, puppetry, spectacle, whatever!) to push their own boundaries and to present original and innovative performance art to a culturally adventurous audience. The festival is now in its eighth year.<br />
<br />
Fringe Audio will be an immersive environment focused on sonic experimentation and surprises. Musicians, performers and composers will premiere and showcase new music and avant-garde ambient sounds. Among the lineup of audio artists featured for the two evenings will be Elisa Faires, Kimathy Moore, Xambuca featuring Chandra Shukla, Sturgeon Hoof featuring David Jones, Ivan Seng, Auracene featuring Liz Lang, Vincent Wrenn and the unique “shape note” singing of Western Caroline Sacred Harp Singers. A visual presentation by Megan McKissack and Jason Scott Furr and a butoh performance by Julie Becton Gillum.<br />
Tickets: $10 for BMCM AC members, seniors and students w/ID / $12 for all others<br />
