The MAP is driven by the belief that digital media, new media, performance and interdisciplinary arts are integral to the cultural vitality of WNC. Through educational programming, artist opportunities and grants, The MAP inspires new ways of experiencing contemporary ideas and expression.

Our Story

Founded in 2002, MAP was integral to the development of community media programs like Asheville’s public access TV station, URTV, and WPVM, a community radio station. In the years that followed, MAP had a hand in organizing creative community festivals such as: HATCHFEST, {Re}HAPPENING, Compress Fest, Frame+Form Screendance Festival, and many other vital community programs.
